Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing a wide range of accounting duties and supporting accurate financial reporting and helping maintain strong compliance and control standards. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across finance and operational teams. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare month-end reconciliations and analyses
• Prepare and post month-end journal entries for cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets and accruals
• Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis
• Support quarterly reviews and the year-end audit by preparing schedules and financial statement footnote for SEC filings
• Track and reconcile fixed assets
• Assist in developing and enhancing procedures to improve internal controls over financial reporting
• Process vendor invoices and verify amounts invoiced to negotiated contracts
• Set-up and maintain vendor information in the accounting systems and issue annual 1099 forms
• Prepare check run reports and recording of payments in accounting system
• Monitor status of vendor contract approvals and organize/maintain vendor files
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and reporting deadlines
• Perform other finance and accounting related projects, as needed
• Other responsibilities as assigned by management

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• CPA preferred
• Minimum three years’ accounting experience
• Experience with general ledger accounts and month end close process
• Public accounting and/or life science industry experience a plus
• Experience operating within a Sarbanes-Oxley control environment
• General understanding and application of US GAAP
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Outstanding attention to detail
• Excellent organizational, analytical and project management skills
• Ability to work independently, and a strong desire to contribute to a positive team environment
• Strong computer skills including high proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects/tasks in a changing environment
• Must have the highest level of integrity and core values consistent with the company’s culture and mission
• Enjoys being ‘hands-on’ and able to work cross-functionally in a co-located environment
